| Description |
|
The slip-tongue high wheeled cart is a relic of early logging methods,
using mules or oxen to skid logs from the forest to the railroads.
The log was chained beneath the wagon so that the front end was
lifted from the ground allowing it to slide more easily. This particular
wagon was built in 1950 for W.T. Carter & Brothers and replaced
in 1951 by tractor powered equipment.
On display at the Texas Forestry Museum 1905 Atkinson Drive in Lufkin.
