Description

A leader in innovative forestry, the Angelina County Lumber Co. used the practice of reforestation and employed professional foresters. The firm played a major role in the early growth of Lufkin and area industries. The company was a complete lumber-milling facility, producing all grades of finished and unfinished lumber products. By 1955, it was producing 30 million board feet of lumber per year. In the early years they only used a circular saw to cut the lumber. By 1928, the company had a band and circular sawmill, planing mill, edgers, trimmers, dry kilns, and electric light plant.

Marker is located on Mill Street in Lufkin.
