Attraction: "Ace of Clubs" House
County: Bowie
City: Texarkana
Website: http://www.texarkanamuseums.org/ace_of_clubs_house.htm

Description

Capt. James Draughon built this house in the shape of the Ace of Clubs playing card in 1885. In 1894, Mr. Henry Moore bought the house and his family lived there until 1985. The house contains many photographs of the forest industry of that time and some artifacts related to forestry. Moore also owned the W.H.H. Moore sawmill in Ingersoll, outside of Texarkana. The mill only lasted one year, but was recorded to cut 40,000 bd. ft. per day in 1893. The Ace of Clubs House is now operated as a museum by Texarkana Museums System.

The home is located at 420 Pine Street in Texarkana.

Hours: 10:00am - 4:00pm, Tuesday-Saturday.  The last tour for the Ace of Clubs House begins at 3:00 pm
