To make kitchen and farm tools needed in wartime, Chapel Hill Manufacturing Co. set up a plant on this site to process iron ore. The plant had associated sawmills, brickyards and commissary and freighted goods to Mexico.

Site is located at 8 miles W of Jacksonville on US 79.
