|
The Central and Montgomery Railroad was built in 1877. In 1882
the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad bought the C&M, thus
acquiring access to the rich timberlands of East Texas. Travel delays
resulted from trains backing to or from the depot to the main line,
and soon passenger service was discontinued.
