| Description |
|
W.H. Stark settled here and established a ferry and warehouse business
on the Sabine River known as Stark’s Landing. It served as
a wharf for steamboats rafting large quantities of timber downstream.
T.M. Hughes built a sizable sawmill, which began the Hughes family
lumber business. Bon Wier’s Sabine River Bridge was completed
in 1931, and a number of sawmills around Bon Wier helped to sustain
its economy.
Located on US 190, Bon Wier.
