Description  

Call was one of many lumber towns in East Texas. It began in 1895 with the construction of a sawmill by George Adams and Dennis Call. Adams leased the mill to Industrial Lumber Co in 1898. During WW II the mill employed women for the first time. The Call mill was consolidated with Kirby Lumber Co. and was closed in 1953.
