| Description |
|
Shelby
County Museum is located at 230 Pecan Street in Center, in the newly
renovated circa 1900 Weaver-Oates house. Exhibits in the Museum highlight
some of the more than 270 sawmills and lumber interests located in
Shelby County since 1849. Especially strong is the Museum's collection
of photos, company script, and tales associated with the Pickering
Lumber Company (1909-1930). The Museum is also well known for its
Genealogy Research Library and Archives. |
