Historicial Development: A. Wesley Campbell and J. C. Campbell operated at Alto under the name of Campbell & Brother during the early 1880s. Two chattel mortgages reveal property that included a steam sawmill, an engine, a boiler, two gin stands, and a mill house. Wesley Campbell's sawmill at Alto appeared in an 1884 lumber directory.
