Historicial Development: A. B. Martindale was a sawmill man of Nacogdoches County who owned mills in various parts of the county. He, prior to opening a mill at Cariker's Switch near Cushing, moved his sawmill from Garrison to a point two miles beyond Mahl, where the plant was being enlarged to accommodate much new machinery.
