Historicial Development: In 1870, the capital investment of the Roberts sawmill, according to that year's Census Products of Industry Schedule, was d to be $6,000. Ten men earned earned $3,000 in eight months. Raw materials included $5,000 worth of logs and and $1,000 in unmilled corn. The sawmill manufactured 1,500,000 feet of lumber valued at $30,000. The grist mill produced cornmeal valued at $1,500.
