Long Leaf Lumber Company

Retrieve was a sawmill town, located near Shawnee Creek, between Huntington and Zavalla. It was serviced by the Texas & New Orleans. Archie Birdsong Mathews recorded that Long Leaf Lumber Company operated a sawmill there from World War I until it closed in the early 1920s. The mill employed about fifty men.
