Louisiana-Pacific Corporation

The Angelina Plywood Company plant at Keltys was established and co-owned by Angelina County Lumber Company and Southern Paper Mills, Inc. The plywood plant was built at Keltys, the location of the Angelina County Lumber Company facility. The announcement also noted that it would cost $4,000,000. Scheduled for operations in February 1965, the mill would cut an annual capacity of sixty-two million square feet of plywood sheathing for construction purposes. A central yard would be used for debarking and cutting. Management consisted of E. L. Kurth, Jr., president; R. W. Wortham, Jr., vice-president; and Kay Hosied, manager.
The Owens-Illinois Glass Company purchased the Angelina Plywood Company in 1966. The plant's estimated worth was $35,000,000. The manager in the 1970s was W. W. Raborn. Louisiana-Pacific Corporation bought the operation sometime in 1977. The purchase price for the 100 million square foot capacity plant was $8,500,000.
