Mummert Co

The Standard Fence Company was a lathe-manufacturing business at Lufkin during the 1920s. By 1928, it was in financial difficulties. Ernest L. Kurth, as trustee, arranged for the sale of the company to the Texas Fence Company. Other histories that note the firm are incorrect on many points. The physical infrastructure included a dry kiln, boiler house, and oil house. The company was later sold to Mummert Company in 1943, which had had grain door mills at Camden, Houston, and Jefferson. Max Wortham was manager.
