Tom and Will Jeans
The AL noted in July of 1900 that the firm of J. W. Jeanes & Son was putting in a circular sawmill at Homer. The Census of 1900 places them at residence 218, Precinct 2, which was probably in or near Ora, for Tom was the postmaster there in 1901. The Cotton Belt ran through the town; the Census lists them as “sawmill lumbermen.” The mill, believes W. T. Block, probably did not cut more than 20,000 feet daily.
