Philips and McNeil

Philips and McNeil ran a saw mill on Squirrel Creek for four months during the census year ending May 31, 1880. The mill was worth $1200, and it employed ten hands (including four children under the age of sixteen). Six hundred dollars in wages were paid during those four months at $1 to $2 per day. The business did its own logging but produced no remanufactures. Two circular saws were used. From $1,200 in logs and mill supplies, the mill cut 400,000 board feet for a gross value of $4,000.
