The J. H. Rucker sawmill was listed in an 1880 Chicago lumberman directory but not in an 1884 railroad listing. The 1880 directory gives the county as Gregg, Upshur, or Harrison. Nancy Ruff's edited Harrison County, Texas, Caucasian Residents in 1880 lists J. H. Rucker as living at Hallville and working as a “boss of sawmill.” J. H. Rucker at Longview appears in the 1907 LCA listing.
