Willis G. Brown Manufacturing Company
W. G. Brown Company at Jacksonville was founded in 1940 as a concentration yard for the products of local portable sawmills. Within a few years, the yard was turned into a mill for manufacturing pallets and collapsible crates. By 1966, Brown employed seventy-five workers at an annual payroll in excess of $250,000. The Directory of Texas Manufacturers 1956-1958 reported that the company was established in 1938. It was listed in 1987 in the Forest Products Industries in Texas.
