J. J. Bowman
A newspaper in 1922 reported that J. J. Bowman established and operated a combination saw and grist mill near Wells shortly after the Civil War. It was later converted to steam, which would have increased the daily cutting capacity. A McCall bought the mill and with the coming of the railroad in 1885, he moved the sawmill to a location near Pollok.
