C. R. Cummings had expanded from its base at Anahuac, Liberty, and Wallisville into the Houston sawmill community by 1905. Cummings did not have the mill for long, because his ownership of a Houston mill is not recorded in the Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association, January 1907.
