R. H. Mayhan or Mayhaw, on March 21, 1913, mortgaged a sawmill and output of lumber for $1,000 to the Alto State Bank. A month later, Mayhan mortgaged his outfit to the Powell Land and Lumber Company of Rusk, Texas, indicating that he was probably a contract miller for the larger company; the lien was canceled in January, 1915.
