Roach Sawmill

Cicero Broom operated a small sawmill in Broome Town, Cherokee County, in the early 1870s. J. G. Dilleha & Co took it over about 1873 or 1874. T. J. Roach bought the mill from Dilleha in 1875. He and his sons (Wallace, George, Tom, and Eugene) operated the mill for more than a quarter of a century at Broome Town. When the Broome Town mill closed, the four sons operated a mill at Holleman's Chapel.
