W. G. Felton owned a sawmill plant in Camp County. It was enumerated in the 1880 Census. The sawmill, valued at$4,000, employed five men normally but added another five children under the age of sixteen at peak rushes. They were paid from $1.00 to $1.25 per an eight-hour day, and received a total wage of $500. The steam-powered, circular sawmill milled 240,000 board feet during the reporting period from $1,400 worth of raw materials into a gross product of $2,400. The company did its own logging.
