Lake Creek Lumber Company
The Southern Industrial and Lumber Review reported in December 1908 that the Lake Creek Lumber Company had made many improvements to the sawmill town of Ulmer after their acquisition of the plant “a little over a year ago.” Some of the improvements were a new boarding house and new tenant houses for the mill workers. The American Lumberman noted in February 1908 that the company had been shut down for repairs before beginning milling after the middle of the month. In July, steam dry kilns were installed.
The “Texas Manufacturers” section of the “Roster: Lumbermen's Ass'n of Texas,” in the Southern Industrial and Lumber Review of July 1909, included the Lake Creek Lumber Company of Houston.
The Vaughan Lumber Company, for $17,315.52, bought all the lumber of the Lake Creek Lumber Company and obtained a one-year contract for the latter's cut. W. L. Womack handled the sale for Lake Creek Lumber at its Ulmer mill.
