M. H. Wurtsbaugh Lumber Company

The Wurtsbaugh sawmilling family operated mills in the counties of Cass, Marion, Montgomery, and Tyler in Texas as well as at Kingston, in Louisiana, after the turn of the century.
Two of the Wurtsbaughs operated what is known as the Little Cypress Lumber Company on land owned by Jonathan G. Bemis in 1907. It had a sawmill and planing mill, according to Marion County records in 1907. That year, Little Cypress Lumber Company agreed to supply its sawmill cut to Burton-Lingo Company. The M. H. Wurtsbaugh lumber mill was listed at Jefferson in 1928. It was cutting 20,000 feet of lumber daily and had a commissary and logging tram road.
