A. Bering & Brother
According to an article in the Southern Lumberman in 1931, August and Conrad Bering established a lumber yard about 1855 on the same block on which had earlier been located the capitol of the Republic of Texas. A. Bering & Bro operated a sawmill near Montgomery for producing its lumber.
