On April 5, 1893, Payton contracted with Hymens Brothers to run his steam sawmill and planer, and to extend for the next year $6 per 1,000 feet of lumber. On August 1, 1894 Payton agreed to sell all lumber made by Coleman Lumber Company at 10% commission.
