Dacus, adjacent to the Trinity & Brazos Valley Railroad and several miles northwest of Bobbin, was the location of the Lipscomb family's sawmilling operations. In 1917, L. A. Lipscomb sold to A. L. Lipscomb, a sawmiller at Bobbin, all the lumber, timber, and crossties at the the former's sawmill at Dacus. The family changed the Dacus sawmill name to the Dacus Lumber Company, with S. A. Lipscomb, president, and W. L. Lipscomb, secretary. In December, 1922, A. J. Sledge bought the Dacus Lumber Company facility at Dacus. He defaulted two years later, and the sawmill and its equipment returned to family ownership.
The company was still operating in 1926 and 1927 according to county records. In 1926, the Dacus Lumber Company paid $846.85 to W. L. Lipscomb for almost 50,000 board feet of lumber, located at Dacus, Texas. The following year, W. L. Lipscomb sold to the company two Fordson tractors, a F & D carriage and feed works, a Simon 10-inch circular saw, a cut-off saw, belting, a 28-inch flue boiler.
The 1922 sale included property of sawmill, edger, trimmer, steam engine and boiler, a planer, and all timber contracts at Dacus.
