Bunt Brothers Lumber Company

Bunt Brothers had a sawmill community within the larger sawmill town of Walker's Mill. They relocated their mill to Walker''s Mill in 1937. The Mill was located south of Farm to Market 449 and east of Spring Branch, some miles north of Hallsville. The Bunt Brothers sawmill and planer mill were located along and at the end of a lane that ran southeast from the Athens Church Road, with Spring Branch immediately to their east. It operated until 1949, when it was moved to Lansing Switch near Hallsville.
Fred and Tessia Bunt operated a commissary from their home at the opening of the sawmill lane. The Bunt Brothers provided less than a dozen tenant houses.
The community of Walker's Mill had been built in 1925 when the Walkers and Bunts closed down their mill community at nearby Gum Creek settlement and opened a steam sawmill plant that ran until 1928 or 1929.
