Peter Josserand is listed as a mill owner in the 1880 Census, employing eleven workers. He and his brother, Frank, later owned mills in Josserand and Westville, Trinity County.
The brothers shared a tram engine and tram cars, which they later sold to J. A. Hays and Webb of Walker County.
