A. J. Cariker Lumber Company

A. J. Cariker Lumber Company had a major sawmill located at the intersection of Craven and South streets in Nacogdoches during the 1920s and 1930s. Cariker had come to Texas from Georgia about 1899. In 1934, he operated four mills in or near Nacogdoches, three at Cushing, three at or near Mt. Enterprise, one at Caro, and one at Appleby. The mill at Nacogdoches operated a single band manufacturing general pine lumber and railroad ties. The plant also had a planer and steam dry kilns.
