Cravens Lumber Company

Cravens Lumber Company acquired a planing mill at Timpson in 1904.
A Sanborn-Perris map of 1906 identifies the Craven Planing Mill at Nacogdoches, located southeast of Fredonia and the Texas & New Orleans intersection. In 1907 the company was listed in the Southern Industrial and Lumber Review as operating a planing mill at Nacogdoches and sawmill and planing mill at Timpson.
In 1910, the Nacogdoches newspaper reported that a new business, a shuttle block factory might be located “beyond the Ice Plant, and this side of the Craven Planer, comprising several acres.” The site was chosen because of its availability to the railroad.
