General Oak Flooring Company

The General Oak Flooring Company began in 1948 as a partnership with J. W. Sutton. The first decade the plant employed less than fifty workers normally. During 1957, J. W. Sutton served as a member of the legislative committee of the Texas Lumber Manufacturers Association. On July 2, 1957, fire destroyed the cooling shed, rip saw, surfacer, and dry kiln.
