The Helpenstell mill (spelling unsure because of near illegibility of manuscript handwriting) was reported in the census for the year ending May 31, 1880 as having $800 capital invested, and being steam driven. The mill ran for six months during the year, and employed six hands (four children under sixteen years of age). The mill was rated at 24 horsepower.
