Although listed in an industrial review in 1906 as cutting about 8,000 feet daily at Sacul, J. L. Dobbs was not listed in the 1907 Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association. In 1907, the J. L. Dobbs firm is recorded in the Cherokee County chattel mortgage registers: Dobbs mortgaged to Farmers & Merchants State Bank for a planer and other equipment.
