James W. Power
James W. Power ran a 20-horsepower steam sawmill in Nacogdoches County during the census year ending May 31, 1880. He had $1800 invested in the mill, and operated it six months during the year. He did his own logging, and employed five hands (three children under the age of sixteen years). The work day consisted of nine to ten hours, and wages ranged from $1 to $2 a day. The saw was a single circular.
