Old River Lumber Company

The Old River Lumber Company was listed as a manufacturer of lumber at Appleby in the Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association, January 1907. L. A. L. Allison, vice-president with Old River Lumber Company, leased sawmill machinery and land near Appleby from T. M. Nixon in 1907. Nacogdoches County bills of sales registers record that the of Appleby had a sawmill located at Cairo [Caro] in 1913, indicating that the mill had been moved some miles to the northwest since 1907.
Nacogdoches County bills of sales record that the Old River Lumber Company sold its property to LeRoy K. Morris for $1.00 and all the company's indebtedness, except that due the Frontier Lumber Company of Brownsville, Cameron County, Texas, and except the amount due Brenton and McKay, a co-partnership located at La Porte, Texas.
The sale included the mules and livestock located at Appleby or elsewhere; all logging wagons and attachments thereto; and the sawmill machinery located at Cairo, Texas.
L. K. Morris is president of Old River Lumber Company, and Leroy Kay Morris was the secretary of the company.
