Wingate Brothers

The first mention of a Wingate Mill near Linn Flat can be found in a Nacogdoches newspaper report. Dr. W. H. Campbell, a county health official, received a report that small pox was evident at or near Linn Flat. When Campbell reached the area, the infected individual, a Mr. Wingate, had died. The death happened at Wingate's Mill.
Noah and Walter Wingate had a sawmill located two miles east of Linn Flat in 1907. That year they contracted their sawmill cut to Southern Mills Company. Wingate Brothers were to deliver their milled lumber to the Southern Mills planing mill at Dalmont Station.
