Hiram Miller

Hiram Miller, according to a Nacogdoches newspaper in 1907, pioneered milling in the area of south of Garrison. He built a water mill on Naconiche Creek, where he manufactured lumber, cotton, and cornmeal. His meal was reputed to be the best in the area because the mill stones ground the corn slowly, thus the meal was not injured by heat as it would be in a steam mill.
