Bill Downs
Edell Woods informed Vernon L. Beasley, an interviewer from the Texas Forestry Museum at Lufkin, that a Bill Downs operated a cotton gin, sawmill, and grist mill near Wiergate in 1837 and 1838. No other primary or secondary sources have supported this claim.
