Seale's Mill
This mill was built before the Civil War, possibly as early as 1845. It was located on Little Cow Creek, north of Newton. Jodie Seale first built the mill, and Simon Gray was listed as the owner in the 1860 census. The Gray sawmill had a capital investment of $1,800 with $3,000 worth of pine logs. The sawmill manufactured 1,000,000 feet of lumber worth a value of $10,000 during the reporting period of the Census of 1860.
