Hart & Godman
G. B. Burr began a planing mill in 1879. Burke's, in 1879, noted that Burr's planing mill in Orange created the opportunity of saving fifty percent on freighting charges: “that the capacity of a car load of rough lumber is 5000 feet, but it is a fact not so well understood that the same car may carry of dressed lumber from 8,000 to 12,000 feet.”Hart & Godman took it over in 1880. Neither business had much demand because the major mills were installing their own planing mills.
