M. Carlson

Panola County documents reveal that M. Carlson and Frank Thomas rebuilt a sawmill, located on the Marion Smith Survey. In 1911, Thomas sold out to Carlson. In 1915, Carlson sold the mortgaged facility to Mrs. Edith (Carlson) Hooper for $1,000. A list of equipment included the sawmill, an edger, resaws, circular saws, a boiler, a powerful steam engine, and all the normal shafting, pulleys, belts, and etc. to run the sawmill. The 1915 document revealed the location of the mill was about two miles north by east of Joaquin on the E. J. Rushey Subdivision of the Marion Smith Survey in Panola County.
