West Lumber Company
The Philip A. Ryan Lumber Company was a Tennessee corporation which applied to Austin in December 1912 for a permit to run saw and planing mills at Onalaska, Texas. The Philip A. Ryan mill at Onalaska appeared in a 1915 directory of sawmills as a hardwood mill having a daily cutting capacity of 50,000 feet. White and red oaks were the mill's specialties. He sold his mill to the J. M. West Lumber Company, at Onalaska, in 1915, according to The Gulf Coast Lumberman. Jim West incorporated the hardwood mill into his larger sawmill plant at Onalaska. The company cut out by 1929.
