W. D. Smith

W. D. Smith was listed in a railroad directory as having a sawmill at Pinehill, Rusk County, in 1884. According to Webb, Pinehill, settled before the Civil War, was first known as Rake Pocket. It is located in eastern Rusk County except for a little time near the end of the 1800s when it was located in Panola County. In 1890, a Buck Smith at Pine Hill, according to the East Texas Genealogical Society, was recorded on the 1890 tax abstract for Panola County.
