The 1880 Special Schedules of Manufactures, Schedules 5 and 6, list Blount & Thomas as operating a sawmill industry with a capitalization of $1200. Operating on an eight-hour daily summer and winter schedule, the six men employees were paid at the rate of $1.00 a day for a skilled mechanic and $.75 a day for unskilled labor.
