Boren's Mill
T. L. Bobbitt, in an oral interview with Vernon L. Beasley, recalled the Born sawmill and grist mill community, located about five miles south of San Augustine on Highway 103. Operating from before the turn of the century to the 1920s, the milling community was established by Bill Born. It eventually had a post office, commissary, and tenant housing. This is probably the “Boren's mill seat” recorded in a San Augustine County quit claim deed record of 1871 from individuals to Mary Herring, who then conveyed the property to William M. Boren.
