On 27 March 1911 H. W. Carroll purchased and mortgaged a one-half interest to J. W. Arnold in Arnold's sawmill and steam machinery. That same day H. W. Carroll and J. T. Chambliss mortgaged to L. A. Cottingham for $130 “all lumber now on yard at the mill & 2 B cut on said yard to May 1, 1911. Said yard is at the mill known as the Arnold and Sanford sawmill.
