N. G. Thomas, according to the 1870 census records, operated saw and grist mills, which were capitalized at $3000. He paid four men a total annual wage of $335 during the three months the mill operated. He had $1300 worth of raw materials and produced 180,000 feet of lumber for a production value of $1800.
