Shepherd and Duncan
On 18 September 1906, according to San Augustine county records, E. S. Welch and Son mortgaged to M. Little a carriage with a 7 1/2-inch steam shotgun feed, two 80-tooth saws, a cutoff saw, and a saw mandrel. On 22 February 1907, E. S. Welch & Son mortgaged 375,000 feet twice with the Garrison Bank for the sums of $2105 and $3000. The lumber was located at the yard of their sawmill.
On 9 March 1907, E. S. Welch & Son mortgaged to Shepherd & Duncan an one-half interest in the Welch sawmill plant.
According to San Augustine county records, Shepherd and Duncan on 7 June 1907 mortgaged to T. J. Williams, another sawmiller from Angelina County, for $850 a #2 DeLoach sawmill, a 54-inch by 16-boiler, a 12-inch by 15-inch steam engine, a cutoff saw, two circular saws, a 3-saw Tower edger, and a 2-saw trimmer.
